Eugene Salandra

A New Jersey native, I studied film and television at New York University, and drawing at the Art Students' League of New York. Excepting a brief Benedictine monastic sojourn, my life has been occupied with practicing the art of animation. Mentors John Canemaker and the late Tissa David were among my influences. Favorite things include drawing, watercolor, tea and herbalism, yoga, meditation, music, theatre, puppetry, crochet, nature strolls, and vegetarian cooking.

Rest in Peace, Tissa

Tissa was my dearest mentor, constant inspiration, and true friend. I am deeply grateful for her extraordinary generosity of spirit over the years.  She was among the greatest animation artists in the history of the medium, and she was eager to share her gifts with others. Tissa encouraged us to work, indeed to live, from the inside out–from the heart.
We are thankful for your long presence among us, Tissa, and we will miss you terribly. God bless your soul. May you now rest in Peace.
